Ezra Bridger's journey

Life isn't black and white, and no choice needs to be final. This is evident in the story of Ezra from Star Wars Rebels. Learn more about him and his lightsabers in this blog post.

Ezra Bridger

Ezra is a young street urchin on Lothal. After joining the crew of Kanan Jarrus (a former Jedi), Ezra quickly discovers he is Force-sensitive. Along with Kanan and the rest of his crew, Ezra begins his training and develops his own innovative lightsaber.

Ezra must face powerful and feared opponents such as the Inquisitors and Darth Vader . Like many before him who began their training later in life, Ezra is also susceptible to the influences of the dark side. He is further tempted by this when he encounters Darth Maul . In the final season, we see him gain possession of a Sith holocron, which he and Darth Maul manage to open.

At the end of the series, we see Ezra and Grand Admiral Thrawn disappear into hyperspace due to whale-like creatures (Purrgils). However, in the Ahsoka series, we see Ezra return, and his story continues.

Ezra's lightsabers

Ezra's first lightsaber: At 15, Ezra built his first lightsaber. It was an unprecedented design, featuring not only a blade but also a blaster component. This allowed him to engage in not only swordplay but also gunplay, allowing him to defend himself without immediately revealing his identity. The design is functional and unobtrusive. It's a weapon that, at first glance, could be mistaken for a lightsaber. The lightsaber was crafted using parts from various crew members. Its iconic design is instantly recognizable thanks to the additional construction around the hilt. The top of this saber blaster is green. This section houses the blaster mode of his lightsaber. It featured a blue kyber crystal, giving the lightsaber the characteristic blue color of a young Jedi.

Ezra's second lightsaber : His original lightsaber was destroyed during the confrontation with Darth Vader on Malachor, forcing Ezra to create a new one. The second lightsaber had a green blade and a black hilt. Unlike his first, this one had a more traditional appearance. However, he had it for a relatively short time, eventually giving it to his close friend and crewmate Sabine Wren just before boarding the Chimaera to turn himself in. Sabine used the lightsaber during her own training, largely keeping the design with only minor modifications. Ezra's second lightsaber is therefore known as Sabine Wren's lightsaber.

Ezra'a's third lightsaber: With the help of the droid Professor Huyang, he built a third lightsaber with a blue blade. The lightsaber's design strongly resembles that of his former master, Kanan Jarrus. It was a deliberate tribute to him. He used the same type of emitter sheath he received from Huyang. The droid had kept it in case his master ever needed a replacement. The lightsaber was hastily constructed aboard Ahsoka's ship, which, thanks to Huyang, had all the necessary components on board.
