Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker brings together several lightsaber stories: the restored blue Skywalker weapon, Leia's own lightsaber, Kylo Ren's red crossguard, the double lightsaber of Dark Rey and Rey's new yellow lightsaber. Not all of these weapons appear in the same context. Some belong to a memory or vision, others determine the finale. This guide connects the characters and their development to the appropriate designs in the KenJo Sabers range.
What's The Rise of Skywalker about?
The return of Palpatine brings the Resistance and the First Order into motion. Together with her friends, Rey seeks the way to Exegol, while Kylo Ren continues to pursue her. The discovery of her origin makes the question of who she wants to be even more important. Leia tries to reach her son and Rey has to decide how to deal with a legacy she has not chosen. The battle ends not only with a confrontation with the Sith, but also with a new meaning for the name Skywalker.
What lightsabers are found in Episode IX?
Rey initially uses the restored blue lightsaber that belonged to Anakin and Luke before. In addition, Leia's blue lightsaber comes into the picture. Kylo fights with his red crossguard until he leaves behind his old identity. In a vision, Rey sees a dark version of herself with a hinged double red lightsaber. Only at the end does she ignite her own yellow lightsaber. The latter is therefore a different weapon than the blue handle with which she travels a large part of the film.
Rey: from an inherited weapon to her own lightsaber
Rey has restored the damaged Skywalker lightsaber and continues her training. The weapon connects her to previous generations, but does not automatically answer her own identity. Precisely because origin and choice are so central, the transition to a self-built lightsaber at the end is meaningful: she no longer relies only on the legacy of others.
Saga Scavenger Edition is linked to Rey and is the model to compare for her Skywalker-inspired handle. Honor refers to Rey's own later design, recognizable by a different form and operation. For a display of Rey's development you can place both side by side and thus show the difference between the recovered heirloom and her own lightsaber.
Leia Organa: the Jedi history behind the leader
We know Leia mostly as a princess, resistance leader and mother, but Episode IX also shows her education with Luke. Her lightsaber preserves that less visible side of her life. It becomes part of the legacy Rey receives and consequently gets meaning outside Leia's own training period.
View Pearl, inspired by Leia Organa, and Pearl Essence as an alternative version. These lightsabers offer a different angle than another variant of the Skywalker handle. Compare form, finish and technical options so that you consciously choose which part of Leia's story you want to highlight.
Kylo Ren and Ben Solo: releasing the crossguard
Kylo Ren's red lightsaber stays connected to his role as leader of the First Order. After the confrontation with Rey and the memory of his father, he throws away the weapon. When he comes to Exegol as Ben Solo, he is no longer on the same side. There he uses the blue Skywalker lightsaber that Rey transmits to him via their connection.
For his Kylo Ren period you can compare Guardia trasversale, Crossguard Essence and CrossGuard Weathered. The choice of product pertains to the moment you want to show: his red handle represents the identity that he ultimately discards, not his last appearance as Ben.
Dark Rey and the Sith in The Rise of Skywalker
The dark Rey with a double red lightsaber is a vision, not a separate heroine who travels through the story for a long time. The image personifies the future Rey is afraid of. Delphic is inspired by this Dark Rey appearance. The hinged double design makes it suitable for visual contrast with Honor or Saga Scavenger Edition, without having to treat it as Rey's usual weapon.
Darth Sidious is the central Sith master of the film. Kylo Ren is a dark Force user, but not automatically a Sith Lord. The finale is about whether Palpatine's legacy remains decisive or can be broken. Therefore, too, the different lightsabers tell more than just a story about colors.
Episode IX FAQs
When does Rey get her yellow lightsaber?
She shows her own yellow lightsaber at the end on Tatooine. For the earlier stages of her story you look at The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
Is Leia using a red lightsaber because her father was Vader?
No. Leia's own lightsaber has a blue blade. Family ties do not directly determine the colour or ownership of a lightsaber.
