How do I assemble a KenJo Saber?

$$

Remove the protective white or black cap from the bottom of the blade. Slide the blade or plug into the handle until it rests against the light. For a Neopixel model, it's important to push down firmly enough so that the pins retract. Make sure the Allen screws don't block the blade on the inside of the handle. Then, use the included small Allen screws and Allen wrench to firmly clamp the blade into the handle. Be careful not to overtighten the screws.

%%

The sword is loose or wobbly

$$

The number of screws used to clamp the sword to the hilt varies by saber. It's important to push the sword as deeply into the hilt as possible (against the lamp or neopixel pins) before tightening the screws. With a neopixel model, be sure to push it down far enough so the screws don't touch the circuit board. These can be tightened firmly. If your sword seems to wobble, tighten the screws to see if this resolves the issue. Avoid over-tightening the threads. It can also help to clamp the sword firmly against the long side of the emitter, not just downward, while tightening the screws. This ensures minimal wiggle room.

Is the blade still moving? Then tighten the screws (be careful not to over-tighten the screw or it will break). Additional tip: A small amount of tape around the underside of the blade can help add some thickness and completely eliminate any movement.

The saber makes no sound

$$

The lightsaber may be in silent/mute mode. KenJo sabers have two different volume levels and a silent/mute mode. To change the volume, the saber must be in standby mode. Press and hold the button until the light flashes once, then release. You will hear a voice confirmation. Repeat this process to switch between volume and mute mode.

%%

The lightsaber won't turn on.

$$

The battery is likely low or completely empty. Turn the lightsaber completely off (not on standby) and connect it to the charger (5V 2A). Let the lightsaber fully charge for at least 4 hours using the correct charger.

Make sure you use a compatible charger with an output of up to 5V 2.4A. Do not use chargers and adapters from other companies or other devices.

If the saber still doesn't turn on after charging, and you have a Neopixel saber, the blade was probably mounted while the saber was on. This can cause a short circuit. Turn the saber off completely and reattach the blade correctly while the saber is completely off: push it down firmly so that the pins retract and continue pushing while tightening the screws one by one. Then remove the battery from the saber and reinsert it to reset the system. Charge the saber and turn it on. If the saber still doesn't turn on, try turning it on while it's charging.

Legendary sabers sometimes have a kill switch on the soundboard/chassis itself. This must be set to "on" to charge. The saber cannot charge if the kill switch is set to "off."

%%

The light does not work, goes out intermittently, keeps flashing, only shows effect when pressing the button.

$$

Baselit saber: First, change the blade style to "stable" to rule out other problems. Consult the included manual or the online manuals .

Neopixel saber: First, change the blade style to "stable" to rule out other problems. Consult the included manual or the online manuals . If the saber still exhibits lighting problems or glitches, read on:

%%

The Neopixel Sword Blade is half- or partially illuminated, has poor lighting, occasionally cuts out, or exhibits other glitches.

$$

First, check that your saber isn't set to Ghostblade or Blaster Blade mode. If not, the blade is almost certainly not installed correctly.

Perhaps you attached the blade while the saber was already powered on? This can cause problems. Make sure you completely power down the saber and then reattach the blade while the saber is still powered off, following the instructions in "How to Assemble a KenJo Saber." Charge the saber and power it back on.

The bar blade may not be making good enough contact with the pins. It's important to press down firmly enough when installing the bar blade (you'll feel the pins move down slightly) and to continue pushing down while tightening the mounting screws.

Premium RGB / Neopixel X3:

- Use the Xeno Configurator app to check whether the blade brightness isn't set to '0'. Set it to 100%.

- Use the Xeno Configurator app to check that the blade length isn't set to '0'. Slide it up to the correct blade length for yours.

%%

The tip drag/melting effect does not work or is not visible or the tip of the sword does not light up.

$$

The tip drag is set to 92cm by default; some sabers come with an 82cm blade. Or a setting may have been accidentally changed. The blade length must be adjusted in the saber to make it fully illuminate.

Supreme Neopixel two buttons: Turn the saber completely off. Press the PWR button three times to switch between 92cm and 82cm. Or download the app from the online manual page to adjust the length on your phone.

Supreme Neopixel One Button: Turn the saber completely off. Press the button three times to switch between 92cm and 82cm. Or download the app from the online manual page to adjust the length on your phone.

Premium Neopixel (non-x3, old version): Remove the SD card from the saber and insert it into your computer using the SD card reader. Open the "set" folder and then open the "config" file to change the "pixel number." 92cm = 133, 82cm = 122. Or use the Bluetooth app "xeno configurator" to set the length via your phone.

My saber does not have a light ring as described in the manual.

$$

You've most likely purchased one of our legendary sabers. Many of these models have a custom concealed button to give the saber an extra realistic look. You can use the manual you have, but the number of flashes described is in seconds.

The latest sabers in the epic and legendary categories (Premium Neopixel x3 and Supreme Neopixel) also support the Bluetooth app, allowing you to easily control the saber's functions from your phone. (Consult the online manual to download the app.)

If your saber doesn't light up while charging, you either have a professional board or are using the wrong charger. Charge with a 5V 2A charger. Maximum 5V 2.4A. Do not use a computer port.

Charging the lightsaber does not solve the problem.

$$

If your saber is a Neopixel saber, first check that you've fully followed the instructions for "the lightsaber won't turn on" and reset the saber correctly. If you've done this and the saber still doesn't work, read on:

In some cases, due to intensive use or other reasons, the connection between the plates and the battery may not be optimal. Opening the lightsaber reveals the battery. It can be removed from the lightsaber and replaced after 30 seconds. If this doesn't solve the problem, you can carefully bend the plates holding the battery open. This will create a better connection between the battery and the plates. Note: only remove the battery; the electronics kit itself must remain closed. Removing or disassembling the electronics kit will void the warranty.

%%

The lightsaber appears to be charging, but it shuts off after a few seconds or minutes after being turned on. The lightsaber shuts off if it's moved or knocked against something.

$$

The battery likely isn't charging properly, or only minimally. This is likely because the plates aren't properly connected to the battery. Unscrewing the lightsaber will reveal the battery. Remove the battery from the soundboard. Carefully bend both plates holding the battery clamps further open to ensure a better connection between the battery and the plates. Replace the battery and reassemble the lightsaber (see the video below). Then, let the lightsaber charge for at least four hours before turning it on again. Do not interrupt the four-hour charging process and do not turn the lightsaber on while it is charging.

Tip: If the saber is used for heavy dueling or if it cuts out when you tap it somewhere, a small piece of tape over the battery can solve the problem.

%%

The saber doesn't seem to charge or the light ring doesn't flash while charging

$$

Did you bend the battery clips open and the saber doesn't seem to charge because, for example, you don't see the light ring illuminate? Your battery may be completely dead, or you're using the wrong charger. This could be the reason the light ring doesn't turn on. Make sure you plug the included cable into a power supply that provides an output of preferably 5 volts and 2.1 amps. 5V and 2.4A is the absolute maximum. Higher amperage, fast chargers, etc., and voltage combinations will damage the board . Avoid charging via a computer USB port.

Legendary sabers often have a kill switch on the soundboard/chassis itself. This must be set to "on" to charge. The saber cannot charge if the kill switch is set to "off."

Then, let your saber charge for at least four hours using the correct charger. Do not interrupt the charging process and do not try to turn the saber on during this time. Make sure you don't leave the saber unattended during this charging cycle and check that it doesn't get hot.

Do you have a saber with a proffi board? Then the LED ring won't light up while charging. You can program this yourself, though.

%%

I smell something burning.

$$

Did the above instructions not solve your specific problem and do you smell a burning smell when you open it? You may have used the wrong charger and burned something out. Remove the battery from the saber as soon as possible and contact us using the instructions at the bottom of this page.

%%

Bluetooth connection is unstable or not working.

$$

Make sure you are using the correct Bluetooth app.

Premium Neopixel X3 and Baselit X3 boards use the Xeno Configurator app

Supreme Neopixel uses the Force Park app.

- Make sure the app is the most up to date version.
- Disconnect any current Bluetooth connections to any device your phone currently has.
- Remove any existing Bluetooth connections to the lightsaber(s) from your phone's Bluetooth menu.
- Delete any existing (if any) Bluetooth connections to the saber within the app.
- Turn off other Bluetooth devices nearby to avoid interference
- Reset the phone: Turn off the phone and restart it
- Reset the saber: remove the battery and put it back in

Now put the saber in standby mode, enable Bluetooth on your phone, and open the app to find the lightsaber. Allow any pop-ups the app may display.

Still no connection with your phone? Then try the steps above with another phone to run the update. Also try a different operating system. If it doesn't work with iOS (iPhone, etc.), try with an Android (Samsung, etc.).

Once the saber is connected, it needs to be updated. This can be done in the bottom right corner under Settings. While the saber is updating, don't use your phone, don't close the app, and let the process complete.
